HTC Hero hands-on: Flash, keyboard and ruminations (updated!)
- The Hero is not a "Google Experience" device. As such, you won't find the Google logo anywhere (no big deal) but you also won't be downloading any firmware updates over the air -- sideloading only kids. Not a deal breaker but an annoying and seemingly arbitrary limitation nonetheless. There's still a small lack of clarity of how updates will work with HTC's "mods" living on top of basic Android -- even if they're able to port in new Android versions seamlessly, we imagine there will be some breakage.
- For a device without a physical keyboard, the Hero seems a little thick up against its HTC Magic, Nokia N97, and iPhone 3G counterparts, but not overly so.

- Nearly 30% of survey respondents (19 of 66) said their organization recouped their investment in immersive technologies in less than nine months, once their project(s) launched.
- The top motivations for investment in immersive technology in 2008 /1Q 2009 were enabling people in disparate locations to spend time together, increased innovation, and cost savings or avoidance.
- Early implementers are choosing the simplest use cases first. The most common were learning and training (80%, or 53 of 66 respondents focused on this use case) and meetings (76%, or 50 of 66 respondents). Some intend to take on more complex use cases in 2010 or 2011.
- Immersive technology won out over a variety of alternatives primarily due to low cost and the increased engagement it delivers. The leading alternatives were Web conferencing and in-person meetings, followed by phone calls.
- Work-related use of the Immersive Internet is in the early adopter phase. Before it can pass into the early majority phase, practitioners and the technology vendors who serve them must “cross the chasm.” The most common barriers to adoption are target users having inadequate hardware, corporate security restrictions, and getting users interested in the technology.

- “生动悉尼”艺术节上的光影艺术，音乐家和视觉艺术家Brian Eno 设计的视频音乐装置艺术作品使整个悉尼港湾幻化成一幕“声光大戏”。本身就造型独特的悉尼歌剧院，在灯光下变幻出绚丽奇特的万千身姿。这是一种叫77 Million Paintings的另类视觉艺术，它把悉尼歌剧院当成了一张巨大的画布，视频投射到歌剧院的影像把Brian Eno的300件个人绘画作品进行着不同的组合。Brian Eno说，这件作品旨在达到一种“视觉迷幻”和“高度平静”的效果。这些不断演变发展的颜色，形状和形式将给人一种“投身到另外一个世界”的感觉。
Brian Eno类似的视频作品曾在上一届威尼斯双年展上展出过。Brian Eno受的是美术教育，但在上世纪70年代以一位音乐制作人的身份一举成名，他曾经为U2和Coldplay制作专辑。

Evernote. Why it will make it & 20 Awesome Ways to Use It.
- Evernote was initially just a desktop application, a mighty fine one at, but just a desktop application all the same. On June 24th 2008, Evernote went into open beta & open its (virtual) doors to the world as a spanking new online service with desktop versions of the tool for Mac’s & PC’s and mobile versions for windows mobile and now, the iPhone.
- 1. It runs on Mac’s, PC’s, Online & on your iPhone. So no matter where you are, you’ve got access to your information.
- 2. Evernote can read text in your images So if you’ve got a photo like one I took of a receipt, it will scan it & make it searchable. In this particular example I searched for receipt obiously.
- 3. Fantastic number of ways to get your information into it but the basics: you can email to it, take a photo & send it to it, you can take a screenshot or just simply copy & paste text into it. If you have a graphics tablet, you can take handwritten notes and of course…if you’re primarily browser based - you can use their firefox extension or bookmarklet which lets you grab any web page, image or text and create a note out of it.
- 4. Sync baby. Whether you’ve got one compute or 1000. Evernote will stay in sync across them all.

- 5. 选择对象、选择时机
所谓“可与言而不与之言，失人；不可与言而与之言，失言。”有些人不懂道理，那你给他讲道理无异于对牛弹琴。事实上，对牛弹琴还可能提高牛的产奶量，可是你要是不知死活非要跟听不懂道理的人讲道理，弄不好会被弄到气绝身亡的地步，不划算。有些人你必须帮助（或者你觉得你应该帮助），那可能要认真选择时机——只在必要的时候对合适的人用恰当的方式讲道理。很小的时候我母亲教我“饭桌上不要讲道理”，后来我发现很多人不懂这个简单原则对生活质量的巨大影响。卡耐基提醒说，批评人的时候千万不要当着别人的面批评，可他的书卖了那么多年那么多本，却好像并没有改变什么——大约还是知易行难罢。 - 6. 简洁至上
讲道理和写文章没什么区别，都要简洁、朴素、有效、准确、全面、生动才好。而这些基本风格中最重要的是简洁。除非万不得已，千万不要啰嗦。比如，很多孩子之所以“叛逆”，其实倒不是他们喜欢叛逆，只不过是受不了父母没完没了地说车轱辘话而已。很多人之所以做不到讲道理时简单明了，说穿了还是因为从未养成做事提前做功课的习惯。所以，一旦开始讲道理，随时都可能被自己当然会占到的那一次两次“上风”所勾引，产生“乘胜追击”幻觉和快感，而最终把自己变成讲话又臭又长的、终究被（所有）人鄙视的家伙。另外一个重要建议是“一次只集中解决一个问题”。 - 真正能够帮助别人的是讲清楚那道理的适用范围。最令人生厌的大道理经常披着这样的外衣“……应该……”。谁都知道什么事应该怎样（除了那些极端缺乏常识的人之外），人们需要的往往不是“什么”（What），而是“为什么”（Why）和“怎么”（How）。只讲显而易见的，却无力说清楚原本必须讲明白才有效的，不仅偷懒，且不厚道，又莫名其妙。
- 10. 养成反思的习惯
人不仅可以进步，还可以不停地进步。前者猴子也能做到，后者只有人类才能做到——因为人类拥有强大的反思能力。尽管很多人的这种能力最终没有“用进”反而“废退”，但至少每个人原本都拥有这个潜质。永远光荣伟大正确的道理都是扯淡，今天适用的明天可能不再适用，现在看起来无懈可击的，将来可能竟然被发现不值一驳。试错是人类进步的唯一方法，而反思是唯一使试错体现出价值的手段。反思不仅仅是一种应该养成的习惯，准确来讲，人无反思能力与蚁蜢无异。
从乔布斯的臭毛病说开去 | Pure Pleasure - Reborn
Jeffrey S. Young写的乔布斯传记《iCon Steve Jobs: The Greatest Second Act in the History of Business》中提到乔布斯一个“臭名昭著”的性格特征：
乔布斯身边人才济济，经常有人会向他提出不错的主意。当时的乔布斯要么置之不理，要么把对方（的主意）骂得狗血喷头。一段时间过去之后，某一天乔布斯会兴冲冲地对大伙说，“嗨，我想到一个绝妙的主意！”大伙一听，乔布斯说的是之前有人告诉过他的、曾经被他忽略或者驳斥过的那个主意。[1]
- 这种人的大脑运行机制里有个漏洞。他们在判断一个主意好坏之前，先去判断那个人牛还是不牛——而并不是直接去判断那个主意好不好。事实上，几乎99%的人都是如此，要么我们怎么总是看到人微言轻的现象呢？事实上，先去判断说话的人牛不牛，某种意义上是一种省时省力并且常常正确的捷径——要命就要命在这个捷径“常常”正确，却又“并不总是”正确。而这是个思维习惯，一旦养成，很可能一生难变，且又难辨。对乔布斯这种人来说，几乎所有的生活经验告诉他，“他是最牛的”，而他也确实就是牛人一个；于是，他会自然而然地低估别人的主意。事实上，很多团队领导者都会一不小心就被这个不良习惯所绑架，且不自知。

Evernote. Why it will make it & 20 Awesome Ways to Use It.
- Evernote was initially just a desktop application, a mighty fine one at, but just a desktop application all the same. On June 24th 2008, Evernote went into open beta & open its (virtual) doors to the world as a spanking new online service with desktop versions of the tool for Mac’s & PC’s and mobile versions for windows mobile and now, the iPhone.
- 1. It runs on Mac’s, PC’s, Online & on your iPhone. So no matter where you are, you’ve got access to your information.
- 2. Evernote can read text in your images So if you’ve got a photo like one I took of a receipt, it will scan it & make it searchable. In this particular example I searched for receipt obiously.
- 3. Fantastic number of ways to get your information into it but the basics: you can email to it, take a photo & send it to it, you can take a screenshot or just simply copy & paste text into it. If you have a graphics tablet, you can take handwritten notes and of course…if you’re primarily browser based - you can use their firefox extension or bookmarklet which lets you grab any web page, image or text and create a note out of it.
- 4. Sync baby. Whether you’ve got one compute or 1000. Evernote will stay in sync across them all.
